America's Storytellers

Kissane Viola Design has been proud to support the Better Angels Society this past year through promotional design work that celebrates their inspiring mission to champion the documentary films of Ken Burns while uplifting new and emerging filmmakers who bring America’s stories to life. The Better Angels Society is a nonprofit organization devoted to supporting Ken Burns’s legacy and cultivating a next generation of documentary storytellers who share a commitment to illuminating the American experience in all its complexity and richness.

This year’s work felt especially meaningful as the country reflects on 250 years of American history. Helping visualize the work of storytellers who illuminate America’s past, present, and future, was both rewarding and inspiring. Through design, we sought to amplify the voices of filmmakers who challenge, inform, and connect us, aligning visual storytelling with the Society’s belief in film as a catalyst for understanding and civic dialogue.

Our relationship with the Better Angels Society spans more than a decade. Kissane Viola Design originally created the organization’s brand over ten years ago, and we’ve had the privilege of watching the foundation grow and expand its impact supporting young filmmakers nationwide.

Over the years, KVD has developed the core brand and multiple sub-brands, along with the website, annual reports, event collateral, and a wide range of promotional and graphic materials. Seeing the continued evolution of the Better Angels Society, and contributing to its mission through thoughtful, enduring design, has been a deeply gratifying experience for our studio.
